one of the things the cherokee do is have a healing sweat for the person followed by immersion in water. i have been involved in those and they are amazing.

It is rather difficult to learn about Native Healing and the Herbs used... There are very few books written about it.. I was in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Centre about 2 years ago and found a copy of a Native Healing book, which I did buy... I have never seen any more since then... Believe me I did look on a number of visits to various tribes..
The skills of Native Healers are passed down by word of mouth and not by books.. I do have a small Navajo sand painting....
