I agree Rah nam, in other words one's perception of self changes, but self remains to be the same .

Very interesting question Black Sheep . Perhaps such a question entertains a deeper sense of 'nothing changes' but there is an illusion that it does .

How many guises must one endure before one notices what's underneath such garments .

It's an open question revolver in such a way where it will depend on 'what it is' that one thinks or knows or realizes themselves to be .

People can grow more mature, more educated, more spiritual or in the other direction, depending on what they are exposed to. Being a parent I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling my child that be doesn’t have any choice over changing if that’s what he seeks. I feel the ability to change who we are at present is always within our control based on the decisions we make along life’s path. I do believe we come to earth to learn certain lessons, but I don’t believe life paths are predetermined so that we can’t break away from mistakes or bad judgment because of a current emotional or mental state. For me, if not having the ability to change was what I was faced with for the rest of my life, I’d be pretty depressed and find the future to be futile. I strongly feel possibilities for reinventing oneself always exist at all times. It may not feel that way in the midst of chaos, stress, anguish, sadness, poverty, substance abuse, mental problems, etc., but too many people have crawled up from the trenches to persevere in a life that they never thought they’d have. Equally so, some fall from a good place to a place of suffering. I don’t feel though that there is a grand master plan to direct everyone’s life to remain the same.

It's funny Raven, I found myself transforming or whatever word suits throughout my life and as I became more aware of supposed difference, I felt that what I am still remains the same if that makes sense .

As the momentum of such supposed differences gathered speed I remember saying to myself 'in 6 or 12 months' I won't recognise myself or know myself, but throughout the changes I constantly remained aware of self .

It's really perhaps just another facet of self reflecting the same light .

Thanks for sharing your story ..

Daz, I just wrote a friend, yes at 3 am, what a profound statement you made here.

It is as brilliant as "Know thyself".

When we know who and what we are...then we know how wonderful
this statement really is...what a freedom and joy to know we can not change!

It's as wonderful as following the tree to it's seed and to the 'what' was before the seed.
Such a wonderful contemplation.
Wonderful must be the word of the day...*wink*
Thank you. Nice reminder.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.

Exactly!
:)
What an example of what I would call 'a perfect contemplative exercise'.
For me, it is a Truth.

A person can recognise how much they have changed with just a little retrospect. People can intend to change, and they set about doing what they have to make those changes. People change in several ways. The develop more insight, hone their talents and skills, escape detrimental situations, overcome adversities, dispell problematic thought patterns, develop healthier esteem, become more contented than they were, more self accepting, cultivate patience and kindness...

People change in many different ways.
