hi Psychotheosophy,

Just wondering, can you give me an example ?

what do you want ?

and how do you choose a guide ? ( oh, this was your original question ) tell me anyways, how do you think you can choose a guide ? or have you already done so ?

this is really the very first time I have heard of someone being able to choose their guide, how would one even know where to start ?

I want happiness.
Obviously, all people ultimately want happiness over unhappiness, and this is not a choice.
The first choice is choosing according to what makes us happy,
Such as prudence.

I'm not sure,
What is prudent in one context may not be prudent in another.
I would want to be careful not to confuse prudent with not prudent.

Happiness is a good choice or non choice .

I am not even sure what prudent means - have to look that up.

Ok, I understand the choosing what makes you happy, but the part that confuses me (sorry to keep asking) is how do you choose a guide ?

Probably a very simple answer like ~ I ask for a guide to help me find happiness and voila ! such a guide appears, at your calling... so in a way, you chose this guide

I should clarify,
People may be detached (forgetful),
(They may notice things, but likely not remember them.)
I think that,
(I had this posted yesterday,)
Clarification can help us be prudent,
Instead of merely taking things superficially.

"Through this ability (prudence), these persons also come now and then to the knowledge of truth, although not whenever they desire, for such facility would be proper only to those who have the habit. And even those who possess the habit do not always have this ability in regard to everything, for that would depend on the assistance God wishes to give them."

The Ascent of Mount Carmel, Book 2, Chapter 26, Section 13 - St. John of the Cross
Happiness guides our choices regarding prudence.
So it is necessary to know happiness clearly.
(e.g. it is desired without choosing it.)

Outside the context of "(e.g. it is desired without choosing it.),"
It would be more accurate to say,

"It is necessary to know happiness clearly,
So happiness guides our choices regarding prudence."

God allows an evil (a lack of happiness, such as an educational guess),
To bring a greater good (a completion of happiness, such as knowing with certainty).

I don't think we choose our guides... I think they choose (or are assigned to) us!
