Yes, lavender and vanilla is a good combo. So is vanilla and sandalwood. :)

I first bought lavender last year, and it's had a very strong affect on me. It's very soothing and calming. I am so drawn to it,and it's become a favorite essential oil to me. It's so interesting because other oils I love, but this one since I'd received it,i just feel often drawn to use it.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.

I use a lot of different oils in baths, oil burner and in sprays for my dreads.
A personal favourite of mine for reducing stress is Patchouli. I suffer from quite high levels of anxiety on a daily basis, I found it really helps me. It has an earthy smell to it, maybe that smell is grounding me

Hi. My favourite oil for reducing stress, mental clarity and pre-meditation is essential oil of violet.
I love the smell of pure, unblended violet oil and if it's very pure, it will put me into a spiritual trance immediately.
The same thing happens if anybody lights some Auroshikha (Aurobindo Ashram) "Krishna Musk" incense...It smells like all the air around me is suddenly edible.
Yeah, those two...anywhere near me...I'm gone.

Frankincense and myrrh is good for balancing and bringing attention to focus, it is also very healing
Lavender and Chamomile is good for reducing stress and I find peach and mint good for giving a crisp feeling of sweet calmness

Yes Patchouli is really awesome in this regard. <3 Whenever I come home and smell it I feel like I am being enveloped by a warm and caring aroma *goes to burn a patchouli cone*

Red Mandarin, Fennel, and or Neroli, but I also use Tanacetum when I am at home. It's a natural sedative.
I suffer from anxieties, and as others pointed out, the smells are going to work differently for everyone.
