God-Like – I think you can change who or what you are. I myself am reinvented as life circumstances have changed and I have changed for the better along with them. Someone who is controlled by something like a substance abuse problem or alcoholism can drastically change just by eliminating those abuses. People can grow more mature, more educated, more spiritual or in the other direction, depending on what they are exposed to. Being a parent I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling my child that be doesn’t have any choice over changing if that’s what he seeks. I feel the ability to change who we are at present is always within our control based on the decisions we make along life’s path. I do believe we come to earth to learn certain lessons, but I don’t believe life paths are predetermined so that we can’t break away from mistakes or bad judgment because of a current emotional or mental state. For me, if not having the ability to change was what I was faced with for the rest of my life, I’d be pretty depressed and find the future to be futile. I strongly feel possibilities for reinventing oneself always exist at all times. It may not feel that way in the midst of chaos, stress, anguish, sadness, poverty, substance abuse, mental problems, etc., but too many people have crawled up from the trenches to persevere in a life that they never thought they’d have. Equally so, some fall from a good place to a place of suffering. I don’t feel though that there is a grand master plan to direct everyone’s life to remain the same.

Oh precious preciousness, another one of these unarguable placard waving stints of righteousness, my own included, where our semantic and pedantic awareness of the untouchable high tenets of spirituality are paraded through these streets, high stepping and in heel clicking our joyous engulfing of those trumpet notes of purity and acclaim.

Whatever...

Good to know one can not change or grow. That will save a lot of wasted effort.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I can't change what I am: A spirit in a human vessel

I can't change who I am: A spirit in a human vessel called 'J'

I seem to be able to get frequent upgrades though

You are already exactly the way you're supposed to be

Yes, in a way I agree Argento, it could be said that something has to be already in place for one to attain or realize it .

On some level something has to exist, its like you can't walk on the moon if the moon isn't already there ..
