I'm like , this cat is a burden and he uses me, so I'm staying away, stuff him. AND then I don't drape love robes all over myself and pretend I'm mr nice guy.

Hi Nameless,
Not that I follow everything that Sylvia Browne says, but once she did say - we don't have to love everybody,
in that dry, low voice she has.

I think she was refering to that Christian ethic that most of us have.
She said if someone has bad energy - 'get away from them'.
That sure was simple and clear.

But, I still think 'swimming at the other end of the pool'' can be done without them noticing all that much -
so as not to hurt their feelings.
I don't really have a 'beef' with them -- just don't enjoy their company.

WELL, since I decided to just love some friend despite her huge downer, negativity and stuckness- I helped move a leather couch for her...and getting no thank you, plus attitude..bec I wouldn't actually drive an hr and then back to the Ikea store to get the darn couch....I have my boundaries....
I have decided to love her from afar - and swim at the other end of the pool.
She is part of my friendship group, but I'm not that close to her.

When I see her over a cocktail I'll smile big - give my hugs and sit a couple seats down... she won't know why...that's love, I think, not hurting her.
The little uppity snot....oops.

I have this in my family Ms. Hep. And, while I am tempted to tell her the Truth about herself, I know it would be hurtful. She is alone for a reason. Objectively also, I am aware of what caused this type of lifestyle, and attitude. A very, very, bad childhood. We can understand results of serious problems in the formative years. You will be blessed in the end for being her friend, anyway.

Well, I'll just be nice and hope she doesn't notice that I'm not
hanging with her as much.
That's not really a ''friend''.
But, I'm covering my butt for my Life Reveiw!!!
I would never want to hurt her.

Nice signature, Morphie.

Where does it say, somewhere, "As far as possible, be on good terms with all"?
It's in the Bible, or, "Desiderata."

We can override our animal instincts to respond in kind.

Thanks Ms. Hep!

"Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. "

Jesus also said,
"In this world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

On the topic of loving our enemies, it's definitely not something that is easy to do. I would like to say that I have positive thoughts toward all my enemies, but I would be lying if I did. I agree that there are some people we simply need to get away from.

It's not exactly the kind of thing that Jesus taught, but then he also blasted his enemies pretty hard and sent them packing. That's not to say he didn't love them, in fact it's the hard words that he spoke to them which indicated his love for them because he was trying to drive home the truth that they were hypocrites.

So this would be a good example to follow. Also, Paul talks about bringing down fire on our enemies by being kind to them. Definitely not easy to do, but not impossible. I have been able to do something like this on a few occasions, but I fully believe it was the Holy Spirit that gave me the strength to do it.

The devil wants us to sink to his level and get into a fighting match. But that is not God's way. I think he wants us to stand our ground in the Truth, and NOT get sucked into arguments.

"As the tide of evolution of each individual is towards becoming more loving and more lovable, it is cruel to try to delude someone into believing that their unlovable aspects can be loved.
[...]
...to lavish sympathy on the malign aspects of either your own or someone else's character is as uncharitable as it would be to leave a poisoned arrow-head in their flesh because you are too squeamish that they would temporarily suffer pain when it was cut out."

From my favourite no-nonsense psychic Joan Grant in Speaking from the Heart.

It goes without saying that I agree or I would not post the quote.
