I have experienced the sad homesickness feeling when I saw somethin on the tv.
What the old man was saying to you, is a warning or a premonition for you, so you could be somewhat prepared by the sadness you will feel in this life. I'm sorry about your loss to. Csn't have been easy.
It is possible for you to have answers about your past life, and perhaps you can get tools as to let it go. Is called regression therapy, where a professional guide takes you to your past life and maybe you can get a clue of why and what you have as a life lesson in this life. Just search for a regression therapist near you :)
