The Spanish player has now come out and said she felt it was a “physical assault”.

I’ve also read that a few of the players demonstrated against their coach’s behaviour and refused to be a part of their team. They had to apologise to him if they wanted to stay in the team but some of them wouldn’t and so we’re not allowed to play. This has just come out recently.

Looks like the coach seems to hold all the cards.

But you never know with the media. You can’t always believe everything that is written.

It was a physical assault and He should have been sacked immediately, I won't repeat all of what the Spanish media are saying but they are out to have Him removed....

If He had done that to one of my brood I'd have personally physically assaulted His Castanets..... Spanish Culture is to greet others with a kiss on each cheek never on the lips....

Hi RED.
I was a bit nervous to keep talking about this as I thought it was going off topic and I didn't want to risk getting the thread closed because it means so much to me.
But when I think logically it's absolutely NOT going off topic because it was something that happened at the World Cup.
So here goes...
It's unacceptable , plain and simple and quite honestly I don't know what he was thinking of. So maybe it WAS just impulse and he didn't realise until it was too late . The point is he did it in front of the whole world, millions of witnesses and so not a case of "he said she said".
You just can't do that. Even if it wasn't morally wrong , in this present climate we have learnt a lot from covid and don't want such intimate contact like that with people.
If this kiss left her feeling repulsed then she does need to speak up. When it happened to me ( age 18 with a man in his 70's ) I felt physically sick for a long time .
Decades ago things were very different . But nowadays work colleagues can get a warning just for calling a female colleague "love" or "darling".
Giving someone a kiss on their lips without their consent is an intimate invasion of privacy and can make a person feel "dirty".
As for the other accusations that you say are now coming to the fore, you are correct in saying sometimes it "paper talk" , and being in that business myself I can promise I know all about that !
Put it this way, the most corrupt newspaper on the planet is STILL the most popular publication by a long shot.
They know how to sell stories and they don't care who they trample on in order to do that .
But I've got a feeling that maybe these reports are a little more than "paper talk"... And we only have to look at the events over the last few years with high profile figures to know it only takes one brave person to speak out and the rest follow suit.
I never said a word to anyone when it was happening to me , and for all I knew he may have been doing that to all the young lasses that worked there that also said nothing .
So I suppose we will have to see how it all unfolds .

Yes, and I could talk about this all day long, but on the other hand I really dont want to jeopardize this thread . It means too much, so I have opened a thread in "strong opinions " as an overflow thread with regard to this subject...

It as become ingrained in me saying'Love' the frequency is lessening though as I cringe right after saying it,long time learning to break the habit(odd thing is I never liked using the term growing up but got a job and one of the other labourers used it very often and got good reactions fron eg. Staff at pubs and cafes,'oh I may adopt that'thought I,and haven't been able to shake the habit fully)
