Yes they do get everywhere I did hear His Father was from Liverpool. Someone in my Sangha calls Him----AB and His band of merry Monks your very lucky to have been able to attend His classes.
I used my local Library for many years until I was gifted a Kindle, I like the idea of being able to go back and re-read whatever Book or parts of a Book that inspired me the most, or share a Book with others. Another good one by AB is 'Dont worry, be grumpy'
I was reading one of His Teachings on Vipassana and He told His class to ask themselves ' How do you know your breathing ' at first I thought He'd lost the plot then I realised how deep His question was...
He has a way with words...

A Kindle is an Electronic Book which holds around 600 Books depending on the size of the file. You can also but PDF files on to read. Mine has a backlight so I can read in the dark, and even though I use it daily the battery last for about two weeks. I like the idea of not needing a bookcase which was a magnet for dust

“Whether it is separated into drops or not, water is water. Our life and death are the same thing. When we realize this fact we have no fear of death anymore, and we have no actual difficulty in our life. “
– Shunryu Suzuki

Excerpt taken from the teaching Nothing Special (ZEN: Right Practice) by Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Below is the full teaching.
“I do not feel like speaking after zazen. I feel the practice of zazen is enough. But if I must say something I think I would like to talk about how wonderful it is to practice zazen.
Our purpose is just to keep this practice forever. This practice started from beginningless time, and it will continue into an endless future.
Strictly speaking, for a human being there is no other practice than this practice There is no other way of life than this way of life.
Zen practice is the direct expression of our true nature.”
Nothing Special (ZEN: Right Practice) by Shunryu Suzuki

Hi Still Waters, what a beautiful quote ? I suppose in short, the quote alludes
to the fact, that nothing is needed in this world for Awakening. Although we strive for nice conditions in this life, to meditate etc., and that is ok,
a realisation is not necessarily contingent upon these things. After a certain time or no time trying to transform Lead into Gold you are brought
to realise that it is neither Lead nor Gold. I could write several pages more I'm sure but will leave it at that.
Just to say the thread on the Poems of Dogen posted recently has been very inspirational.
I find the spirit of Dogen inside this quote of Suzuki Roshi,
there is a pure iron clad certainty in the Soto Zen School, albeit an Iron Clad Certainty as soft as the Clouds.
So, "Even if the Sun were to rise in the West, the Bodhisattva has only one way." Thanks.
