SUFFERING:
I suspect we do not talk much about suffering but I think we should. If we are suffering too much, our body just might produce 'certain things' that reduce the pain. For example: our body might go into shock.
DEATH:
I suspect the closest we have come to experiencing death is what we experience when under anesthesia. No need for me to count any numbers backwards: I am gone.
Something else I used to do was rock a 4 leg chair back and forth and after a while, the chair would go all the way back. I never felt hitting the floor. I was gone before I got there.
To me, dying, might not be much different then living.

Why is death feared so much?
Mainly it's the idea that you lose your life, something you know and always knew in a way....
A major loss. Though is it really any loss...

Yes it's a loss.
Death is real. The specific spirit/body combination that manifested as an individual person has gone for good - that's a loss.
Oh, yes, I do understand the real deal - our animating spirit is eternal. But the unique person we each individually are can NEVER exist again. It was a unique combination of body and spirit.
Does that matter? You tell me..... blessings

For me, as I am in my body and spirit, it doesn't matter.... And I mean this with my heart, having a feeling in that area.

...... and we are sometimes told there is a possibility we might not come back, but how many of us dwell on that thought? I know I don't.

.... but then, does not Christianity teach that people will come back with a perfect body via the resurrection?
