While drinking, take about 100 mg of piracetam in beer (causes foaming at first) or a cup of coffee now and then.

probiotics, such as acidophilus, etc.
Cysteine, vitamin C, vitamin B1 (thiamine) and a bioflavonoid taken together reduce blood acetaldehyde levels. I usually use 500 mg cysteine, 500 mg vitamin C, 100mg B1 and a bioflavanoid, such as rutin or hesperidin.

Take 2 aspirin before going to bed.
Hawthorne berries reduce blood pressure levels and tend to reduce a hangover, too.

Interesting thread. Although the article mentions that there's no 'safe' level of alcohol consumption, I would like to see more linkage between the amount consumed and harmful effects, to help make an informed choice. It only says 'up to' 0.8%, which is the kind of misleading information I often see in advertising. Does it mean 0.8% is the max cut-off for the heaviest drinkers? If I drink within the govt guidelines, what percent can I expect then?
Regarding payment for treatment, alcoholic drinks are already heavily taxed, like some other toxic products eg tobacco, and don't we have a sugar tax too? I wonder how the figures stack up, for tax income vs extra cost to the health system.

I was lucky I never became accustomed to the taste of it.
It has always tasted like a poison, it always felt in my body like a poison and so I always knew it was one.
There is a reason why this is legal, and Entheogens are not.

Two reasons I can think of; beer has been widely available for a long time, and one or a few drinks don't make you lose your mind.

I would not say I was lucky. I never liked the taste of alcohol so I do not drink. It has its advantages as when we go out somewhere I drive home and my husband does not have to worry about how much he drinks. He does not drink much.

I watch a lot of programmes of Medical Examiners like Dr G medical examiner.
and on that they say the damage that Alcohol has on the brain.
some people have died ,because they had no Alcohol in their bodies which affects the Brain,
Especially if they are heavy drinkers because the brain cant function without it.
I don't drink i used to but only moderately

I have wine with dinner. It's a cultural habit I acquired growing up with my parents. Whiskey is another cultural habit I picked up from my bosses when I started climbing the stairway to the stars in corporate America.
My professional career ended some ten years ago when I gave it up to seek the deathless state. I still have wine with dinner. Whiskey, just a drink (2 ounces and a couple of ice cubes) before dinner, but only when I feel good. By this, I mean a spiritual high and connected with whatever is behind this profound mystery of life. It comes, usually in the evening, once a week or biweekly. A sip of the spirit in my glass would sharpen the consciousness. I like my whiskey on ice on the front porch or in the back garden. It's like having a drink with God.
