Nose breathing

James Nestor’s book called ‘Breath’ has inspired me to check into my breathing throughout my daily activities. I’ve been a mouth breather forever. So currently practising nose breathing with almost all activities. Today I did a hill climb and walk checked into how I’m breathing. Firstly I went into auto mode of mouth breathing, so I switched and began to notice the sensations in my nasal and facial area, as well as my body’s ability and feeling. On the steepest part of the hill I noticed I felt like I couldn’t get a big enough intake so I stopped a few times and took a big breath in through my mouth. I only did this a few times, always coming back to the nose. I am noticing my nose is irritated, itchy and watery, I suspect all part of ‘using’ my nasal passages for what they are designed for.

It will be an interesting process watching the changes in my fitness and my whole body.
