International Association for Near Death Studies
In 2006, The Rhine Research Center at Duke University hosted a conference "After Death What Do We Know?" The panel consisted of a scientist, minister and medium. The weekend conference shared, through summaries of a triple blind scientific study and the stories shared by the minister and medium, that consciousness survives death.
Although I had read numerous books about near death experiences, reincarnation, life between lives, etc. it did not provide the personal human connection of meeting with a group of people who also shared a NDE experience and how the NDE changed my perceptions and priorities in life.
I was fortunate to hear about an IANDS group in Virginia Beach that met weekly. It was a place where I could share my story without fear of ridicule or disbelief. More importantly, it was wonderful to realize I was not the only person who had an experience and to listen to other people's NDE's.
IANDS is an international organization of people who have had near death experiences, or are interested in learning about near death experiences. Members come from all walks of life, including medical and scientific backgrounds. IANDS provides resources and local meeting groups to share their story, support and knowledge to educate people on survival of consciousness.
