Fires of the Earth by Jón Steingrímsson.
Jón Steingrímsson, author of Fires of The Earth. He is also known as the Fire Priest, the man who lead the Fire Mass when Laki, a volcano in Iceland, erupted in 1783. It's massive lava flow threatened a nearby village, and Jón lead the villagers in prayer to God to save them. Miraculously, the lava flow stopped before it reached the village.
However, Laki released sulphur dioxide and fluorine during the eruption. It killed the livestock, the crops and plants, caused a famine and killed half the population of Iceland. Not only that, the cloud spread across Europe, and reached France. It's what caused the French Revolution,
I haven't read the book yet, and I want to, but I can't find it anywhere cheap. Has anyone read it?
