The tunnel experience in meditation/prayer

Hi has anyone got any advice about what the tunnel experience is all about? I get it at night setimes, usually in prayer it's like the roof of the dark room fills with stars and smokey haze. Slowly it will begin to swirl to the centre then start to rush towards my forehead it looks like travelling in a tunnel full of stars a bit. Usually it makes my forehead hurt a little between my brow above my nose. Any ideas what the tunnel is about?

Au... There are many dimensions in the spiritual universe that one may find themselves experiencing.

The important part is not to try to figure it all out but to learn to be fully present and accepting with whatever we experience in meditation.

Sometimes a person passes through the tunnel and goes into another dimension, but mostly one just sees through the tunnel into another place or just experiences the whirling energy and just does not go on the other side of the tunnel.

It is an advanced experience no matter how you look at it.

Wow! I had this tunnel thing happen when I was doing a quantum meditation earlier last month! I kinda figured it was a dimensional transition! Thanks Xan for the explanation! And thanks Au, for asking your question!

i used to have more intense visuals about 3 months ago then i got stressed out with studies and it all stopped thanks so much for your replies

I had a powerful tunnel experience (like an NDE - near death experience) when my first child was being born. I saw him walking from the light down the tunnel towards me just before he emerged out of my body in the body of a baby son. Today he looks like the man I saw almost 19 years ago - and the vision gave me clues as to what he would be like etc...

I was thinking about the tunnel just the other day that it must be some kind of vortex of energy, as Xan described it, a kind of black hole into another universe. Makes perfect sense to me.

I have been taught that the chakras are also called "lokas" which refer to heavenly dimensions. This is where you get the idea of the seven heavens. (There are also seven "hells" or "talas" which are the anti-universes corresponding to the seven chakras - but let's not go there! )

Psychology says the tunnel is just a deep memory of the birth canal...but we know better! The Divine One has designed the earthly world (the world of the root loka) to mirror the heavenly realms.

And that saying, "The night is darkest before dawn," about "dark night of the soul" that's also a kind of tunnel experience.

its all so interesting I cant wait to go back there and explore it. but is hard to find that place

Yes Au... because it's not actually a 'place' but a vibrational frequency. You may get back by tuning into the subtle feeling of it.
