sensing spirit

I was going to meditate and in about 6 sec of closing my eyes I started to feel heavy and I mean heavy sensations of wind and a presence around me. It was floating all around me. I can't meditate because I get scared everytime I try. I feel like I am going to feel a touch or hear something. I am trying to fight this fear. I feel very light and awaken. Any tips? Personal experience? relations?

Fear is the most common issue to overcome. I suspect that this is because our cultural and spiritual(religious) conditioning is so very fear based itself.

Try and imagine that the Intelligent Design for all things is friendly and loving. That may help.

My personal experience is that love is at the center of all things.

I also feel that way with meditation, i am scared i am going to open something i cant close/switch off again, SIlly i know...i am working on it!

Fear is a biggie, but the way past it is to realise that it's only fear of the unknown, so once you know what's going on, there's nothing left to fear. The way to find out is to trust and to pay attention to what you pick up (but leave analysis until after the event). What are you going to touch or hear? Probably nothing... but you might feel the joy of a new/old friend beside you.

Before meditating, fix your intent of thought on what you're going to do - connect with a guide, expand your aura, clear your mind... whatever. When you do that, then whatever follows is part of the experience and nothing to fear.

Tammy, it's not silly to fear that - it's quite natural! Do remember that you are in control ALL the time, so it's up to you to open up and close down again. Try thinking of a door - you open it to meditate, you close it to end the session. Simple.

It's understandable to be apprehensive when embarking on meditation for the purpose of opening your awareness to spirit. I'm sure we have all been in this position at one time or another. The unalterable law of like attracts like, will attract to you those of like mind, therefore it's important you do aim for higher vibrations of thought as John and Enya have suggested before you attempt to connect with unknown energies.

Exploring New Territory

It isn’t all that unusual to be a little fearful about experiencing new things, even when we are trying to. Take comfort in that millions of people have meditated for millennia & have found this a rewarding experience.

Sometimes people have a fear that they will encounter problematic energetic beings. We have the ability to vet them & give them instructions not to bother us. This is easy. Sometimes there is a concern that we will have trouble connecting w/ our physical body. We are very firmly connected & this isn’t an issue.

More than fighting the fear, understand it & give it a big hug. Appreciate that fear doesn’t help you deal w/ things. Shift fear of the unknown into an anticipation of exploring new territory. You have a huge spiritual team of guides that you can ask for assistance. They can provide expert help every step of the way, but we have to ask.

Why would this be problematic if you touched or heard something? Do you feel that anything you encounter would be negative? It may be that your feeling a presence around you is feeling your guides or HS. This is very positive. Let your energies be carried by the wind you feel & just enjoy the ride!

Have fun w/ this as it is a journey of ✧✩☆JOY☆✩✧.

Thanks for that Enya. from what i have gotten (scattered bits anyway) isnt isnt disconcerting in the least and have felt no fear (but that is without meditation) I often feel uncomfortable (you know the feeling someone is watching you, lol i watch to many horrors ) so it stems from that. My inner voice tells me to meditate, because i will learn so much more and things will be more apparent, but i dont know if that is what i want right now...in time i guess!

I always say a protection prayer before meditation. You are only interested in making contact with those of the light, in the light and for my best and highest good. Or,...whatever words are comfortable for you.

Just close your eyes for 10 minutes and listen to your breathing. Many people meditate without any interest of contacting spirits. They do it just to clear their mind from "stuff".
