Elton John

The number of classic songs this guy has performed is huge. I bought his greatest hits last year and there are 50 songs on it. I remember most of them. Truly a great artist. He is part of a team with his long standing lyric writer. Elton gets the lyrics and then composes the music and performs them. Are you a fan?

Honza..oh goodness, don't do that , I thought he must have passed away !!!

I can't say that I'm a massive fan, but then again I don't dislike him either.
I feel he is somewhat of a national treasure and will be missed by so many as and when he does leave us.

There are two of his songs in particular that I love.
"Daniel" from the early 70's . I've really just always liked it from hearing it 'back in the day' of it's release.
And the other one, which I've got to say is my very favourite is a bit obscure maybe , but it's "live like horses" from his 97 album "the big picture"...
I just love it .

Yes, I'm a fan. He is brilliant...what a GIFT he has!!
And this gift started out when he was young; I learned from the movie ''Rocket Man"
And I gather a very nice person.

Yes I like Elton his music speaks for himself, I like a lot of his songs
but the two i really like are the ones he sang in Diana's funeral
and the one he sang with Ed Sheeran
but I cant remember what they were called. candle in the wind he sang at the funeral but he changed some of the words

I didn't like his music up until the day my brother died and the track 'Sacrifice' had just been released that very morning, he passed away young when out with me, the track was on the radio that morning prior to us setting out, I didn't realise it was Elton John I just thought it sounded good and then I heard it later in the day after he'd gone and now it sounds quite an haunting tune Sinead O'conner covers it on an album of mixed artist covering EJs songs.
Another artist I wasn't keen on until one of his songs just captured the moment was Michael Jackso, it was a gloriously sunny day and someone was sat on the townhall steps with a big boombox playing 'One day in your life'

That last post did not appear straight away, there are some odd goings on when I try to post in this members only part of the forum, even clicking on threads problems occur that don't seem to happen in the rest of the forum.(think it's taking a great deal of time to load a new page)
on edit: my mistake as this is not part of members only , I had presumed it was as there were problems with trying to post which occurs often now.

I am off to library soon so will listen to that track as have not heard it, Shania Twain wishes to be able to make her way to Glasto pyramid stage on a horse....that don't impress me much.
