An identity question for Spirit (you)

Do you, Spirit, identify with your effects or with you as cause?

The technical answer from the non-dual Absolute perspective is neither as cause and effect are aspects of change and Spirit (the Absolute, the Vast) is unbound, limitless, unchanging. Hence cause and effect are (unreal) appearances of said Absolute.

I like Swami Vivekananda's test. Close your eyes and quietly say to yourself "I". If any association to body or mind arises there's more work to be done.

The unchanging Absolute is infinite, eternal and still, but the unchanging Absolute is not static: "And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light". No body, no mind.

In non-duality 'you' are myth . It's all 'I' not even 'we' .

Coming to spirit identification , in absolute non-dual state spirit identifies it blissful unity state and nothing else and coming to dual state spirit identifies it with traits that exemplifies its spirit viz bravery , honesty , integrity, gratefulness, modesty , benevolence , kindness, brightness , dexterity , prowess , knowledge , abundance , cheerfulness , magnanimity , enthusiasm ,trust, confidence, ebullience , discipline, consistency, empathy, beauty, serenity, love, unity, diligence , vigilance - the list can be very much long . Our words can simply be insufficient.
So whichever place / people /natural elements exemplify such traits , it may add its power to such place/people/natural element and identify with it .

Chapter 11 (Vishwaroop Darshan ) in Bhagavad Gita , Krishna gives elaborate list of what all He can be identified with .

"No body , No mind but I - eternal consciousness"

So maybe the question should be: Do you, Consciousness, identify with your effects or with you as cause?

Or perhaps: Do you, Consciousness, identify with Spirit or with personality?

We may consider Spirit as expressing itself through ever-evolving Consciousness which expresses itself through ever-evolving forms. So the journey we are all on is the transition of Consciousness identifying with personality to Consciousness identifying with Spirit.

Peace

I identify with all in bold above. :)

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.

Not always so. If I identify as the reconciling Christ or the compassionate Buddha, these are not psychological identifications, they are spiritual identifications. Spiritual identifications are an intrinsic aspect of the 'return' path.

Here is a verse from the Bhagavad Gita, that I have come across in recent days.

Never was the Self Born ; never shall it
Cease to be. Without, Beginning or End,
Free from birth, Free from death, And free from time,
How can the Self die when the body dies ?

If this verse is to be believed, then it points beyond all Causes and Effects and also contains within it what we call all Causes and all Effects.

Yes, from the classic non-dual perspective That is beyond cause and effect. Space, time, cause and effect are all appearances of and within That.
