Circle of the Self

I am a circle
You made me a square
You poured my spirit into
A rigid mould

Right angles held me captive
No flow, only ricochet

But, I am a circle
And over time your puny constructs
Failed to change me

Your corners fell away

I stood revealed, anew
Naked, trembling
Magnificently round!

I Am, I Am a circle
The perfect design for moving forward
And I have returned to my Truth

Watch me turn, and spin
And become a giant ball
Of blazing diamond light

Oh by, oh boy, oh boy! Beautiful.

This perfectly describes the situation that so often happens within groups of people. (I almost said circles). If a dominant slots an individual, the herd follows suit. Boom! Just like that you've got corners. Finding freedom to express all that we are, may require gathering our corners in and rolling away. But no, wait.... I see now that I gathered the corners in instead of kicking them away. Oops, that's how I ended up on the long, slow path. Kick the corners away!

Any curve when viewed from up close seems as a straight line
And we oft get lost in our magnified views of reality
But sometimes, something shocks us into a more distant perspective
And we once again experience the truth of our geometry

Thank you for that, brokenwings. It was inspiring indeed.

I am so touched that you would like to share this poem.... thankyou Abbara.
This is the real gift of poetry - the sharing is a joy.
