Animism is best described as a "reality in which all things are embedded with vitality." Animism is part of a belief system. Many ancient and modern Pagans alike believe in animism and pantheism. Pantheism teaches us that the divine is more separate from nature but part of it.
Shamanism is a sect of Neo-Paganism and also a ancient cultural version of a medicine man. This holds a belief on it's own that many times entails animism and pantheism.
