Hoping for comments
To the Native-Americans on this board...
I was reading something about a San-Francisco-area musician named Mickey Hart. He's of an older generation than myself, but he's kind of an interesting person. He's been a collector of percussion instruments, and he was given a small drum by someone. It was a Tibetan (Bon) ceremonial drum made from a human skull, with a stretched drum head. During the time Mickey had it, he had frequent difficult experiences... sickness, bad moods, bumping into things, and finally a car accident (and a number of broken bones and a recovery that took months).
He didn't consciously suspect an influence from the drum. But he decided that the drum, as an instrument, didn't have a tone that he like (which was a big concern with him, since he was a professional percussionist). He knew of a Tibetan Buddhist lama in the Bay Area, so he took the drum and gave it to the lama. The lama commented that he hoped Mickey had been very careful while he had the drum, because it was a doctored object. This suggested to Hart a connection with his luck during the period before giving it away.
I'd be very interested in your comments on this.

im thinking it was the skull, the person was probably murdered or something, that and the desecration of human remains.

This is a good case for "The Haunted Collector" on SyFy.

I don't know what that is. But thanks for replying.
I thought possibly the effect of that object was the sort of thing that a shaman in the Native-American traditions might know about. No harm in asking, I figured.

It is a non Native American artifact. Thus a person in that faith might give a better answer.

I don't think the drum was a Budhist ritual tool. I think it came from the Bon tradition in Tibet.

You said in your first post that this drum was handed to a Tibetan Buddhist lama hence my suggestion. I know that some Buddhists use drums but don't know enough about there beliefs to comment any further.
