Holy books the benefit

I believe all holy books be the bible, koran, bhagava gita etc are very good books to understand early humans attempt to understand God.

These books are early humans interpretation of what the truth was in past times. We are still not fully spiritually evolved and what we write about now will look very primitive in 300 years time.

The holy books all contain good and bad but they also show mans hunger for God .

So called holy books can be ok, but one must read them with spiritual discernment, if we read them just with the mind, this is how we begin to make up all sorts of belief systems, we then turn our system into dogma,

Whilst not a follower of any one religion in particular I am absolutely fascinated with all manner of holy books because of the ideals they hold and the beautiful imagery they possess.

If only I had the time to read them more!

Spiritual discernment is another word for spiritual ideal

Yes it is if it comes only from the mind, and of course as soon as we talk about anything spiritual, it then becomes a concept or idea, so yes you are right.

Though raised Catholic I've never read the bible, or specially wanted to.

Read some classic Hindu things decades ago but can't recall what exactly.

Some say the Vedas ,Upanishads, describe cutting edge physics,
(consciousness & the universe)

Me too! But another reason I love those holy books is because they are Ancient. And I don't care if people say it's an Ancient fiction just like Twilight, the fact that it's as old as my ancestors means it deserves respect.

I do not believe that there is absolutely nothing to learn, from anything coming from the past.

How so? When...
Discerment - The trait of judging wisely and objectively
Ideal - The idea of something that is perfect; something that one hopes to attain.
