My Ear!!!

AHHH - my ear has been plugged all day because of my sinuses! Does anyone know any remedies? I have tried Zyrtec-D, Nasal Irrigation, Medicated Nasal Spray, Eating Spicy Food, and Yawning. Still plugged!

maybe some sweet oil in your ear will help.

Things that have worked for me is chewing gum, like they tell you to do when flying. Also, the warmth from a blow dryer on low setting carefully pointed indirectly for a while on both sides.

Thanks! It is a bit better now as I gave in and took another dose of antihistamine/decongestant. Now I am just drowwwwwsy.

Make a fresh cup of tea or coffee and while it is very hot, hold it against your ear for as long as you can stand it.

I don't know if it's an old wive's tale but blowing smoke in the ear is meant to be good. My dad used to blow cigarette smoke in my ear if it was sore when i was a child and it seemed to work. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, everyone. My ear is all better now. I tried so many different remedies, it is hard to say which finally worked. It is amazing how maddening a simple plugged ear can make someone! As I was searching remedies on the internet I read several posts from people who seemed to actually be going mad from prolonged congestion. The universe saw fit for me to keep what little sanity I still have.

Might need antibiotics if it sticks around.
