not exactly, although on the astral you WILL have a greater knowledge/remembering of your previous physical incarnations, the astral simply does not contain the records of all of these, however, the next plane up/in does, advance to that level and you would have a greater chance of this being the case...

Hi Love&Light,
While you are in a human body you have two seperate, but connected, levels of consciousness - the physical consciousness you are experiencing right now, and also your higher self, which is all those parts of you you have no conscious access to right now. Those parts become fully reunited again when our connection with our human body is severed by death, but not before, except in exceptional circumstances.
It is absolutely possible for us to visit the astral or spirit world from our human body, but we do so with the same human consciousness we use every day (if you have ever had a lucid dream, there is little difference here - when we dream we are in the spirit world, just usually in a nonsensical environment of our own creation because we are not in conscious control).
It takes quite a lot of spiritual work to reconnect strongly with our higher selves from the physical, whether that be through astral travel or other methods such as deep meditation. Our higher selves truly are quite amazing in comparison to our conscious minds, particularly those who have been around the block a few times with regard to reincarnation, so I'm sure you are correct with with regard to skills and intelligence. My interactions with my own have left me in some awe (and taught me some fascinating things about myself because I chose a personality in this lifetime which clashes with most of the natural inclinations of my spirit self!).
