Tip for Seeded Grass to Grow

Hello

I am all about doing things the natural and chemical free way where I can. So when it came to grass seed there was no other choice than natural untreated seed for the front lawn. Well we planted it and nothing we watered it and nothing. The birds had a nice feast and fertilized it well and nothing.

The time for it to show life had gone past and as that layer of top soil is as important to the Earth as it was blowing away, we thought OK time for sadly rolled turf. There was no other option we felt to keep the soil in place.

That night we said to the grass this is your last chance this is it, we have blessed you and cared for you and nothing so TURF is coming. I went to look for the tape measure the next AM and I so could not find it, I then looked up turf companies in the area for ideas on prices.

My husband gets up and looks out the window....and goes there is like a smile or mildew on the ground out there. As that is what it so looked like. As it was still pretty dark when I got up I had not noticed anything . We went out to find grass sprouting all over the soil. Over night grass came in. Now its a full and getting lush lawn.

That threat seemed to bring us the blessing of our grass.

Lynn

Oh wow! That grass got its act together. It didn't want to be turfed over! A little positive thought can help. I wish you had both been in my garden last year when I planted grass seed for shady areas! -in the shade!....and nothing came up....
This year it has decided to sprout a little so I keep on sending it positive happy green thoughts!

Yea... the seeds are a bit slower when the weather is a little cool.

Tobi, we had an area of a house in VA that was completely shaded. We tried shade grass for a couple of years with almost no result. We finally went to a local nursery, and they had a blend made specifically for the type of soil in that area that worked wonderfully!!

And Lynn, way to go!! Wish I'd thought to threaten my grass seeds at the time lol

Lynn that's wonderful! Looks like those seeds had a change of heart once they knew they would be covered!
I had a few bald patches in my garden, not too noticeable but I had difficulty trying to get grass seeds to grow, so instead I planted some bulbs last spring and they have flowered, so I'm quite pleased with that

I do love my garden, I'm no gardening expert but I love tending and growing things in it..
