8 of cups interpretation?

So I did a reading and I asked a certain situation will come fourth and I got 8 of cups in the position which it directly affects the outcome? then for the outcome I got empress. I am so confused because looks like 8 of cups means letting go but then I got empress in the outcome position. Help interpret these two cards please?

The eight of cups is not just letting go, it is completely walking away, emtionally detaching, starting a new without what was left behind. The empress is learning to love and take care of yourself. To live with loving kindness.

This is only two cards of the reading, reading these two cards alone, this is how I saw them.

Just adding to the above - The Empress to me is a huge growth card, kind of like a fantastic harvest after a good season's worth of sun and rain. Combined with the 8 of Cups, it might suggest that you're leaving something behind for better times ahead! :)

8 of Cups is all about clearing out the emotional residue of the past. In the Thoth deck, the water in the cups is black. It represents all our stagnant emotions that are just sitting there. The Empress is about emotional renewal.

To me 8 of cups is also turning inwards, an inner journey. As in contemplation, reconsidering and so on, still rather painful. Empress is also gestation, patiently waiting whilst working diligently towards something new. (She's pregnant, so at some point she's gonna give birth to new life) and on my deck she's spinning, which is doing prep-work to create something new --> fabric).
