The best description for love that I have found was love as described in the bible at 1st Corinthians chapter 13.

It is an energy that affects our way of being in every life circumstance.

The polar opposite, the fire.
The irritation/anger/determination/will/hunger.. The ability to see flaws that need perfecting.
All acts are more or less derived from a place of non-acceptance.

The combusting or decomposing the old/weak/unfit in order to make space for the new.
Love takes alot of space... Space is limited.
If there was no destruction, events would cease to occur.

The opposite of love that you describe as the contracting or culling force is also love.

The force from which boundaries are defined or established is also the force that channels and contains the unbounded, is also love. Without channels and boundaries, material existence and individual consciousness would not exist. All would exist as the Unbounded Oneness. Without compassion and expansion, there is no generation or creative source...and without channels, there is no direction, no growth or individuation.

These are two aspects of the same One Love. Love is both the strength and the mercy, the discipline and the compassion. Both are Love. Balance and acceptance are key, as is perspective and understanding (or wisdom, to use the older and more gracious term).

I think of it like this. I don't resist the love. I accept and allow the love to flow in all directions, and I facilitate this as best I can from my side, from my individual consciousness.

However I do feel that boundaries are appropriate for our waking material existence with regard to emotional and physical intimacy, and to the spiritual levels that pertain to these boundaries. That is, sending love and healing, or acting with love generally, is appropriate in any realm with or for anyone. But for my part, the act of making love is only for my partner.

Peace & blessings,
7L

What is love?

That is such a complex question, as there are many facets to "love":

We can "love" our favourite foods/movies, songs, etc....
We can "love" a season or certain holiday....
We can love our pet(s), children, family members, etc...

Then there is the grand, romantic, love-story LOVE that all the songs & movies talk about And that is the deep, all-encompassing, unconditional love that simply becomes a part of everything you are The chorus of the song "If I Knew Then" by Lady Antebellum kind of sums it up nicely, I think:

"Cause love only comes once in a while,
knocks on your door, and throws you a smile.
It takes every breath, leaves every scar,
speaks to your soul, and sings to your heart"

Then, of course, ultimately, you need to love yourself - which can be the hardest part of love to master at times!!
