Arrow Need advice please, thank you

Right now I'm going through a lot in my life right now. Recently my doctor has taken me off of a drug called Klonopin and I'm tapering off of it. The withdrawals are horrible and I want to meditate but I'm kinda afraid to meditate cause right now I'm deeply depressed and going through a lot of stress and anxiety cause of things going on in my life right now. Something else has happened to me, my abusive ex boyfriend took advantage of me and I have to call the cops and call the crisis line to inform them on what he did to me.

Meditation is probably the only thing I can think of that will help me be able to relax and go through out my day, but so many people are saying to me since your depressed, have high anxiety and stressed out, you might get possessed or attract bad spirits so I don't think you should do it. It's really hard for me to sleep at night and there's nights where I wake up in the middle of the night and cry cause I have flashback's of what my ex boyfriend did to me. I'm trying really hard to get over the abuse and the withdrawals at the same time, but I don't want to attract any bad spirits. So what should I do? Please I need your help. I came back here cause I'm in desperate times right now. And please don't judge me. I need people to be gentle to me right now.

Hmm,
what about not exactly meditating but more using visualization?
It is very powerful and can change brain chemistry.

You can pick your favorite place...a forest and a creek....the ocean with the heat of the sun...or
sitting in front of your favorite yogi, Dalai Lama, Krishna...I mean something that is just great and wonderful.

Watch how you can change your whole mood in a few minutes.
The power of the imagination is very huge!

I can watch my favorite movie that has uplifting scenes, even
and wow do I get feeling great!

You can meditate later after your mood changes...just an idea.
Good luck, honey. Being a Pisces and the word 'dream' in your name this should be easy-peasy!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I experience a lot of tension and anxiety at times, and what really helps me is three deep belly breaths (the abdomen is the body's largest nerve centre, I believe, so a lot of tension can be stored there). It can feel quite uncomfortable at first, as resistance and repressed energy are released, but I do generally feel so much better in the end.

Bodily awareness is hugely important, I think, because our minds can take up so much of our attention and make us unconscious of what we're feeling in our bodies; I know this is supposed to be a thread about meditation, but I've been doing yoga for a few weeks and it's helped me so much to be mindful of my body, to release tension and blockages that impede the flow of energy through the body, and consequently to increase general well-being. So if you possibly can, maybe you could try a beginners' workout for a week, see how you get on - I did this one, which is a twenty minute workout, nothing too demanding.

Now, when I feel tense or anxious, I'll do a few asanas (yoga postures) and it'll help me a lot to relax, provided I remember the basics - strong foundation, alignment, mindfulness of body.

As I say, give it a try for a week if you can, you might find it helps you to relax

If you can't meditate, and I can't imagine under your circumstance, just practice very deep breathing techniques during a cautiously hot bath. Hydration and water is key, so keep drinking a lot of water to flush it out.
You will not attract bad spirits. While your breathing, whisper and repeat a positive affirmation ( statements) to get you through it. Just examples, "let go and let God", or "I draw healing energy with each breath".
All in time, remember it's temporary.
I trust you will be just fine, don't forget to consult with a doctor.

I like the suggestions regarding focusing on your breathing... I would also recommend the use of relaxing audio stimulation / music...

Hang in there... The withdrawal effects from prescription medication is tough at times but it's temporary and it will eventually pass...
