Consuming Blood.
This prohibition was referring to customs that pagan nations around Israel were using in their worship of idols and false gods which sometimes involved drinking the blood of animals in the belief that the worshiper would receive strength through the blood. Jesus did say that nothing you put into your body can defile you etc:
Matthew 15:11
" It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a person."

Blood Transfusions are not consumed but recieved with gratitude as a gift from God..... imo.

I don't see how it could harm anyone, so have no reason to think it's immoral, but morality regards the nature of intent, which makes morality a human concern. If you are concerned with what God thinks, then your morality is merely obedience and your ability to discern your own goodwill or ill-will will become weaker. Hence some very terrible things are done under the guise of morality in the name of God.

Some people have been "injured" from blood transfusions. Some nasty diseases have been transmitted that way.
Having a skilled surgeon, etc. probably is the better way of handling the matter.

A blood transfusion may be given because of a shortage of red blood cells in the blood, either because the body is not making enough of them, or by loss of blood.
Sometimes the bone marrow, which produces blood cells, cannot make enough of them. This may be due to disease or a failure of the bone marrow to work properly. It may be temporary or a longer term problem. Some treatments, such as chemotherapy, can also affect the bone marrow in this way. In some cases the anaemia can be treated with medicines; in other cases, a blood transfusion may be the best treatment.
