I'm actually familiar with facing this and other double binds.
What seems to have worked for me was:
1. Follow your conscience.
2. Become forgetful of possible consequent loses (detachment), such as the job.
3. Trusting in God (goodness itself).
This double bind challenges you to ask yourself,
"How much good is good to you? Is it more valuable than a job?"
(I believe that goodness is no less than goodness itself.)

I see the way to overcome a double bind,
Involves starting where we are at (from following physical goods),
And goes to following goodness itself.
