Banning from bookshops.

How can I arrange to be banned from entering all branches of Waterstones ? I weakened last week and walked into my local branch. I emerged with a 1000-page blockbuster, "Words of Radiance" by Brandon Sanderson, and it's Part 2 of the series , so now I have to buy Part 1 before I can read Part 2.
It sits on my bookshelf, beside all the other mega-books I have bought and not yet digested, glaring at me !

So, I either need a Court Order or a psychiatrist !

I have a library full of books I have bought staring at me begging to be read.

Good news is I mostly buy from thrift stores, paying no more than a few dollars, bad news I have well over 3,000 books.

Pop into your nearest Bookers Anonymous. They may be able to help. Or ask Specsavers to prescribe opaque spectacles. They do a Zaphod Beeblebrox line but instead of blacking out in the face of danger they can fix them to blacken the moment you enter a bookshop. Ask for that specification.

Otherwise....keep readin'!!!

Ah, so, one of my "pushers" ! My favourite Waterstones is in a medieval street in the City of Durham. The street, that was originally built by the Romans, runs from the river to the ancient hill fort [now housing the Norman castle and cathedral]. The area has many small alleys off the street, leading to all sorts of interesting places, such as Silversmiths - in fact the street is called Silver St.. But the back door of Waterstones leads into a small enclosed plaza with a super cafe. So, it's spend a small fortune on books, then retire to the cafe for cake and coffee to "fondle" the book
I think a big attraction of bookshops is the smell of new, pristine books ! You can't buy THAT from Amazon.

I adore the smell of a new book and I always take a deep sniff of them, but it has to be one of my own new books, not one still on the shelf at work.
