It was a long document, I tried copy and paste from my computer (didn't want to retype the whole thing), forgot that there is this bad rule about not copying and pasting something.... but of course it didn't allow me to copy and paste...

So many times I wanted to share something I typed up, but couldn't. Who wants to retype the whole thing again.

So the information is lost because of this limitation. I think that information is very valuable and should come first. But at the moment it seems that greed and copyrights related things (money related again) come first. Definitely not an enlightened way of things. It's strange that we would put money first on such a forum as spirituality.

Copy and paste works fine. If its too long, break it into sections and make several posts. If that is too much work, put it elsewhere and put up a link to it.

There is no rule against coping your own work. They just don't want materials from other places copied here.

There is nothing wrong with copying something from private documents on your computer, or something you have written and stored there!

The "Copy Paste" rule here is only concerning written works already published online, and (strangely, I know...) this also includes your own written work if it is already published elsewhere.

A couple of lines copied, and then a link to the original, is the best way to do it.

Unfortunately we have to live in this world with its rules and regulations. No-one would like to see Spiritual Forums shut down because of some copyright lawsuit. We all have to follow the 'ways of the world' in practical matters like that or deal with the consequences.

I just had to deal with illegal piracy issues concerning my own work. It was very unpleasant. Not because I resented anyone getting a 'free read', but because those downloads were from highly dubious I.P. addresses and probably contained malware. I got the sites shut down in 48 hours, because the server of the incredibly complex list of owners/registrars/web pages/dubious I.P. addresses -took my concerns very seriously.
