On Fear

An excerpt from the book I'm reading, The Fear Book By Cheri Huber..

"Whether we are avoiding all that could produce the dreaded discomfort we call fear, or pursuing all that could produce the desirable feeling we call excitment, we are removed from the present moment by the belief that our lives, our selves, will be the way they should be only in some other time and place, some other alternative to what is here and now."

I think that that is intrinsic to the "grass is always greener on the other side" notion. One must try to live in the here and now.

I avoiding doing things I feared all my life, so I understand the first part, and have faced some major fears lately, and when I did, I found some magical gifts hiding behind them.

I don't agree with the second statement, because when we are pursuing excitement, that is the key to happy. Pursuing things that are exciting to you (usually after you have gone through the fear and found things that excite you) and that is living in the here and now. Being with your excitement of your life you are creating.
