Ok, so this is
not the most important piece of mythic research of all time... in fact it's totally meaningless. But it's very funny. And kind of cool.
I happened to be watching the very enjoyable tv movie of
Homer's Odyssey, with Armand Assante as Odysseus.
I kept thinking, this face looks awfully familiar, and not from
Judge Dredd... :)
So I shot a couple of left profiles directly from the TV:
... and compared them with this:
... not exact, but pretty durn close! The
feeling of the face is really similar.
That last pic is a carving from around 400 BCE, that is, around 2,400 years ago, and it depicts Odysseus.
Good casting! (Assante turned in a great performance as well.)
