Namaste...now isn't this interesting...
I was just looking at the Mahavairocana Sutra and comparing it to Vijnana Bhairava Tantra.
I have always been very interested in the differences/similarities between Bhairava and Vairochana seeing as how, linguistically they come from the same Indo-Aryan etymological root word.
I was reading about the Adi Buddha (Vairochana) and saw him meditating before a small stupa, which for all the
world looked like a Shiva Lingam...

So, in the Tantric teachings of Buddhism, there is Mahakala:

In the Tantric teachings of Hinduism, there is Bhairava:

Quote:
Now, I, Vairocana Buddha am sitting atop a lotus pedestal; On a thousand flowers surrounding me are a thousand Sakyamuni Buddhas. Each flower supports a hundred million worlds; in each world a Sakyamuni Buddha appears. All are seated beneath a Bodhi-tree, all simultaneously attain Buddhahood. All these innumerable Buddhas have Vairocana as their original body.

Yeah...pretty confusing...then again, I'm pretty much fully absorbed in Shiva Bliss right now.
