Yes i agree Jesus did volunteer, yet it was still the Fathers will that it occurred so in that sense the Father did send him. The bible writers wouldn't lie about that.
It had to occur because all of Gods ways are justice( Deut 32:4)-A perfect sinless mortal rebelled and lost a good standing for all mortals with God, they all had to die. Even the righteous died. Justice = A perfect sinless mortal paid the wages of sin he did not owe= the ransom sacrifice, buying back what Adam had lost so that some would never have to taste death even though they owe the wages of sin. The greatest act of love ever by both God and his son.
