It's simple enough to try, Pete. Get a pad of paper, a pen or pencil and sit somewhere quiet and comfortable where you're not going to be distracted. Hold the pen/pencil as you would normally and try to relax your mind.
See if anything happens but please don't get despondent if results aren't instantaneous. It needs practice for you to 'switch off' and your daughter will first need to learn how to control you when you're relaxed and ready. That can take time.
Please be confident and send out your thoughts to your daughter that you are making yourself available if automatic writing is what she wants to do - good luck.
