I believe there are many people who are more aware than they think they are, so the feelings they get are often due to the other energies in their environment.

These feelings are unusual for us because the whole of our culture and educational systems is geared towards NOT accepting things as "real" if we cannot see, touch, measure, etc. It is almost as if the pendulum has swung totally the opposite way from the way it was for our ancient cousins who lived very much by the land and the energies around them.

Some things for you to try:
Affirmations (forgiveness of self/others, connection to Higher Self, healing, etc) (books by Louise Hay)
Emotional Freedom Technique - tapping on upper body points whilst saying statements. This is very good for unwanted/persistent thoughts, fears, insecurities, and is free and easy to learn for yourself. Works faster than you would think. (Gary Craig emofree.com)
Gratitude - at end of day, find 3 small things, acknowledge and be grateful for them.
