I have found a great many Christians do not want to read the Old Testament of the Bible, they do not believe it is about Christianity. They say that only the New Testament is about the new covenant which they have with God through Jesus.
Since this is posted in a spiritual sub-forum, I will say what you have stated about Christians is true for most other religions. Many Hindus have not completely read the Mahabratta, or Muslims the Quran, and there are lots of Jews who know nothing of the Kabbalah. Yet these are all considered sacred text by those religions. The other thing is that interpretation of sacred text varies within each religion. Every religion has different factions, sects, or denominations that see their religious teachings differently.
