Your pendulum is moved by your subconscious, and your subconscious is greatly influenced by your beliefs, emotions, thoughts.
That being the case, I suggest that, when you ask a question that you don't know the answer of, to tell yourself with conviction that you subconsciously, or intuitively, know the right answer (that you know the right answer, not what the answer is).
