I know what you're saying, dreamer. Before I met my husband I never told my parents that I loved was very uncomfortable to even think about saying it. You're right, it can be easier to say that you love something they've done rather than telling them that you love them for who they are...who they are to you...who they are becoming. But just like everything else, practicing it makes it easier. Within a few of months of being with my dh, who was always telling me AND my parents that he loved us, I started to see just how good it could be to express that feeling. And now I never talk to my parents without telling them how much they really mean to me, how much I really love them.
