A more typical translation might go along the lines of "You have the right to act but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions." Which relates to Karma Yoga and is a somewhat different context.

I used to think that everything was dictated by karma but now I have no problem reconciling choice and karma. The Soul has its own purpose, the Soul knows what needs to be resolved, and so the Soul will choose certain experiences in an incarnation. But these chosen experiences will be aligned with the necessary karmic lessons.
