I can't help but wonder if the Tzimtzum of Isaac Luria's Kabbalah is a similar kind of thing. It sort of sounds like it. I suspect many, if not most esoteric systems begin with the infinitesimal point as an origin. I mean, what else is there? And yet, interstingly enough it is not the beginning. Oh for good paradoxes eh?
