I like Lao Tzu's take on it:
'If you are depressed,
You are living in the past.
If you are anxious,
You are living in the future.
If you are at peace,
You are living in the present.'
So the question for me would be: Are you
at peace?
It's important, I think, that we don't try to use the logic of non-duality to try to spiritually bypass what feels uncomfortable or painful, I've seen this so often in this subforum and I just find it unhelpful and, honestly, rather tiresome. It can seem easier and safer to approach spirituality in a very intellectual way, but I don't think this approach actually leads to spiritual liberation - more often than not, it seems to me, it just leads to denial and avoidance. Self-honesty and self-awareness are so important if we're truly sincere about spiritual transformation.
