[ameliorate]

A fairly recent, free verse poem of mine

Still Standing
They outlive us...
they will outlive us,
should we all
cease to be

Passive they stand,
sustained from above;
pouring down
sweet sunlight and rain

Grounded,
their deep roots
widely spread, whilst
their branches dance f-r-e-e
reaching ever
skywards
