This is true. The Latin origins of the terms
introvert and
extravert mean
turned inwards (more focused on one's internal world) and
turned outwards (more focused on one's external world).
But the introvert/extravert spectrum covers a very broad range of how people are. And I see that some diagrams of this spectrum include a third category of
ambivert to describe those in the middle of the spectrum.
And the fact that
BunnyJen90 thinks that her introvert boyfriend might be stupid suggests that he is more socially withdrawn than the average person. If he were a confident introvert then there is no reason for her to consider that he could be stupid.
