I think monogamy is fairer to both sexes. More happy people if people form pairs. I haven't heard of polyamory creating a lot of happiness. Most people like to be with a special someone. Not sure how you could feel that for two or more people. I think it may have more to do with sex and opportunity than with commitment and sacrifice.
