Sound adherence to morals and ethical conduct can even enable an agnostic or nontheist to attain enlightenment, without spirituality or religions or spiritual masters, as is the case with Rajini Menon.

It could be true to some extent depending on the goal. Nobody is 100% materialist or 100% spiritualist in the life . By compulsion 6-8 hours of sleep 25 to 33% of life is compulsory sleep . God demonstrate the spiritual bliss (of having nothing , being nothing , yet energizing and discharging fatigue etc) by way of forced sleep to every body , During awake hour at almost 40-50% almost material for almost every person . Now the challenge lies in the balance hours how person uses that time . God expect the man uses his/her free will granted to man to discover the joys experienced in sleep in the awake state. He/she may use meditation / good books / cultivated habits /company of good people / social pressures to lead a moral/ethical life . That is certainly possible . However unless the person is a soul blessed with spirituality from past life (which people rarely know) , enlightenment without spirituality or religion may be very difficult.
