My observation is that nicotine makes the outer surface of the light body brownish and rubbery, and thereby somewhat resistant to incoming light.
I knew a third degree initiate (first stage enlightenment) that said that he smoked (cigars) to reduce his sensitivity to the emotions of others.
I was not entirely convinced. He seemed to be avoiding some of his own pain.
