and leave
the fallen leaves to fare
as they will.
Treat and trick
and homestead stick
and flick the pumped up
light switch.
Tis the season
to be folly,
come, I pray,
be jolly, as stardust flies,
a million goodbyes.
The loss is but illusion.
To say it is not...
To say it...
is...
not...
To turn away.
Of all the wrapping
extravaganza, and light show
madness and shopping frenzies
and soul suffocating
must-be's,
this is the worse of all:
To try and not care,
for we are not really here,
at all.
The jewel is ours,
privilege and pain.
With all her shine,
and her dust and her brine,
in our reach only, here for us.
Yet another night.
Oh the fortune, to get
Christmas lights.
